Many storied rivalries have made college football most colorful and most anticipated each coming season. Let’s look at the top and most bitter ones that have existed over the years.

Michigan vs. Ohio State: This rivalry between scarlet and gray and maize and blue has been around for more than a century now. Since 1897, fans have deliriously supported this most iconic of battles. Each meeting between the two is certainly much ado about something and comes with much media hullaballoo.

Army vs. Navy: This patriotism-driven battle of future military officers is one of the most anticipated each season. Yes, even the most promising star players in these duels probably won’t make it to the NFL, but they give their hearts out on the field.

Oklahoma vs. Texas: These teams duke it out in the Red River Rivalry at the Dallas Cotton Bowl, where players go for the golden hat. These two college football giants have 11 national championships between them. Can Texas come back next season after a heartbreaking 29-24 loss last year?

Alabama vs. Auburn: Another intense rivalry is that of the Iron Bowl. The winner of this game has in recent years gone on to the SEC Championship. More importantly, though, Alabama and Auburn play for the National Championship.

USC vs. Notre Dame: The battles between the Trojans and the Fighting Irish have raged for the past 85 years, and this bowl has had more Heisman trophy winners than any other existing rivalry. It doesn’t matter that this is an out-of-conference match; a USC and Notre Dame game is as thrilling as any college football game can get.

Hi, Robert Mims here. I’m a huge fan of college football, particularly the Kentucky Wildcats and Memphis Tigers rivalry. For similar reads, visit this blog.
